Ust-Donets port (UDP) is the largest and most technologically advanced river port in the South of Russia.
The Ust-Donets Port (UDP) dates back to May 1960. It was created as a transport hub that allows transshipment of large volumes of bulk, portioned and general cargo from the east of Russia to Ukraine, Moldova and the countries of the Black Sea basin. Cargo handling of the port reached 10.5 million tons with a design capacity of 12 million tons.
Since its construction, the port has become a city-forming enterprise and has been so for more than 45 years. Today, the port handles such cargo as sulfur, mineral fertilizers, crushed stone, metal, stone, coal, timber, feldspar, scrap metal, and other cargo.
The key advantages of UD-Port are:
Free space for the placement of production facilities, on the territory of the current port, while using the existing capacity for transshipment and transportation of cargo.
The considerable length of the mooring front allows handling large volumes of cargo in a short time.
Existing engineering and technical networks with a sufficiently large power reserve and the possibility of connecting to them.
Transport accessibility. In this region, the UDP is the only transport hub that combines water, road and railway routes.
Ust-Donetsky Port is located in the Ust-Donetsky district of the Rostov region (Russia), at the mouth of the Seversky Donets River, in the southwestern part of the administrative center of the city Ust-Donetskiy.
To the north-west, at a distance of 1 km, is the port station "Ust-Donetskaya" of the North Caucasus Railway.
The Ust-Donetsk Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant and the Evraz Holding metal rolling mill are adjacent to the southern border of the port.
Distances by inland waterway to cities:
Kamensk - 187 km;
Volgograd - 442 km.
Distances by road to cities:
Mines - 50 km;
Novocherkassk - 80 km;
Volgodonsk - 120 km;
Krasnodar - 420 km;
Volgograd - 450 km.
Currently, UDP works with partners who ship their cargo to the ports of Odessa, Nikolaev, Morocco, Tunisia, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, and Israel. In these countries, cargo is shipped to river-sea class ships, which move to the destination port without additional loading.
In the ports of the Persian Gulf, India, and China, cargo is sent with transshipment on the roads of the ports of the Caucasus, Kerch and Novorossiysk to sea vessels.
Within the country, UDP works with partners in Astrakhan, Samara, Volgograd, Ulyanovsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Cherepovets, Kazan, Berezniki, Kemerovo, Moscow and the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
UDP has licenses for transshipment of dangerous cargo of the classes 4 and 9.
The list of types of cargo handled by UDP includes: sulfur, mineral fertilizers, coal, packaged, packaged, in special containers, oversized and heavy cargo up to 40 tons.
The total area of the UDP is just over 60 hectares, of which 24 hectares fall on the inner water area of the port.
The territory of the Ust-Donets port is conditionally divided into northern and southern cargo areas. The port has 10 mechanized berths, the length of the mooring walls is from 120 to 290 p. m.
The length of the mooring front in the UDP is 1135 p. m., the depth of the water area is 4 m, which allows servicing river-sea vessels with a cargo capacity of up to 5000 tons and sending them to the ports of the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
The loading complex has a production capacity of more than 8000 tons per day. 17 gantry cranes with a lifting capacity of 10 – 27 tons, equipped with more than 50 units of lifting devices, are constantly involved in the work.
The storage area (42.8 thousand m2) is equipped with a sliding canopy that allows you to store goods that respond to atmospheric influences, a closed warehouse with an area of 2000 sq. m. The railway with crane tracks allows you to increase the storage area, which practically eliminates the risk of downtime of cars and ships when providing transshipment in direct and mixed rail-water traffic.
On the territory of the UDP there is a fire station and a refueling station (46 tons), repair and mechanical workshops, grab and electric shops.
The port has a staff of professional, licensed employees, and there is an infrastructure for staff accommodation.
The way from the roadstead does not interfere with the passage and movement of other vessels – the berths are put into operation.
Navigation is open from April to December.
Shoreline - not flooded, not eroded in the immediate vicinity of the fairway. The design and construction was carried out in accordance with the rules and regulations for the construction of port facilities.
UDP has developed transport communications: an extensive railway network (unloading and dead-end railway tracks), the length of the access railway tracks is more than 10,000 m;
at a distance of 1 km from the north-western border of the port there is a junction railway station "Ust-Donetskaya "(SKZHD); access roads and on-site roads with asphalt pavement run along the entire perimeter of the port and provide unhindered access to production sites;
on the territory there is a platform for settling vehicles (for 20-30 seats);
The M4 Don Federal highway is 60 km from the port main gate.
JSC "Ust-Donetsk Port" has a significant amount of spare capacity, sufficient to cover both its own needs and the needs of production facilities located on its territory.
Power supply - the total capacity of the port is 7,504 MVA, the voltage is 10/0. 4 kV. Power is provided from two sources (main and backup). There are 6 transformer substations located on the territory of the port. The power supply system is looped, which ensures uninterrupted operation.
Gas supply - the connection point is located at the border of the port. The distance to the hydraulic fracturing is less than 1 km, medium pressure gas.
Water supply - drinking water is supplied from the main city water pipeline passing through the port territory. Technical water comes from the water intake from the Seversky Donets River.
Heating and hot water supply is provided from the port's own boiler house with a capacity of 4 Gcal.
Sewage - domestic wastewater is pretreated at the sewage treatment plants located in the northern cargo area of the port and is diverted to the city sewer system. For the drainage of rain and meltwater in the port, storm sewer networks are provided.
