Built by the Award-winning Alloy Yachts in New Zealand and christened at the stroke of midnight 2000, Georgia became the first superyacht of the new Millennium and established herself as a trailblazer for a new generation of sailing yachts.
She was conceived as the ultimate world cruiser for a family and is still one of the world’s finest large cruising sail yachts. Design priorities included a requirement for four generous guest cabins, a gym plus a full width master suite and a large hot tub. In a yacht of this size, being the largest sloop in the world at the time, ease of sailing with a minimal crew, was an absolute necessity, as well as safety for all on board. The very strict rules for Lloyd's and then to be adopted MCA rules and regulations were embraced to achieve the highest structural and safety standards and the vessel has been maintained that way since.
Performance under sail comes from a generous rig of carbon fiber, designed by Southern Spars with a fully battened in boom furling mainsail and three infinitely versatile carbon spectra headsails, all on dedicated custom Reckman hydraulic furlers with custom built carbon fiber foils
Draft is minimized by the daggerboard which when up gives a draft of only 12.6”/3.80m and when down a sailing draft of 24'/7.3m ensuring superb performance. Glade Johnson's styling and interior created a very large volume yacht for her length. There are generous living areas inside, fantastic staterooms and excellent on deck and flybridge spaces, as well as her aft cockpit.
No compromises were made on any level, from the finest heavy-duty redundant machinery to the finest electronics and audio/visual equipment, right down to the hand carved interior. Georgia has proven herself for her current owner for nearly the last 9 years, having made two circumnavigations under his ownership, including two passages around Cape Horn and through Patagonia with the owner and guests onboard.
There is no other sailing yacht on the market of this caliber, with such a delightfully generous 5/6 stateroom layout. Georgia is now available for a new owner and new adventures.
