General description:

Ariel is a Mason designed center cockpit, solid GRP cutter-rigged sloop. The Mason 53 is one of the most venerated and respected vessels in her class and was built by the renowned Ta-Shing Shipyard in Taiwan. There is accommodation for nine in four separate cabins plus spacious storage for all the live aboard gear requirements. She is a beautiful yacht that has always been meticulously maintained and updated. It "shines" in every respect, probably the best available on the market in her class! The vessel is fully imported to New Zealand with no GST or Duty outstanding. Owner would consider another yacht and cash for trade.

LOA: 53'6" LWL 40'

Hull material: FIBERGLASS

Hull displacement:  43,500 LBS

Ballast: 14,400 LBS OF IRON

Ariel sleeps seven (7) in three (3) separate enclosed staterooms, plus one (1) forward passageway berth.   An additional person could sleep on the settee in the salon.

This stateroom is aft and has a large double berth starboard and a single berth to port. There is one large hanging locker and one large locker with shelves, four drawers and six (6) additional lockers.  There is a separate enclosed head and shower to starboard with large lockers.

The galley is to port with a large Tecumseh 120 volt AC refrigerator and separate freezer. Equipment includes a Force 10 three (3) burner and oven propane stove, microwave, large sink, many lockers and dish racks, trash locker and Corian counter tops throughout.

The main salon is light and airy, featuring Italian leather cushions on a settee to the starboard and around a large custom dining table to the port. The salon has many lockers and storage areas.  A wine locker, entertainment center and book shelves to starboard.  Forward of the salon is a countertop with a large locker above and three large drawers below.

The nav station is adjacent to the main salon.  This area houses the main electrical panel to the starboard and with the nav table and seat facing forward. Above the nav table is an instrument panel and shelf, and to the left of the nav seat is another instrument panel. Behind the nav seat is a book shelve. Under the nav table is full length chart rack.

Forward of the main salon is a large head to the port with generous lockers and storage areas. The area forward can be closed off from the main salon. A single berth is to starboard in the forward passageway.  To the port of the passageway forward is an enclosed bunk room with over and under berths.  In the bunk room, there is large hanging locker and a counter with two (2) drawers below. There is a forward stateroom with a "V" berth for two (2), and additional lockers and storage areas.

Ariel has a center cockpit with a pedestal mount steering and a dodger.  There are cushions and backrests.  Access to all winches is easy from either the cockpit or the island area around the cockpit.  The engine and sailing instruments are complete and easy to read. The radar, fish finder, autopilot, VHF radio and electronic hailer/fog horn are very accessible and easy to read and use.

The deck is fiberglass with molded in non-skid and is laid out to be safe to work from.  There are davits aft with a ten (10) foot hard bottom Aquapro dingy with a 9.9 HP Evinrude outboard motor.  The aft deck houses a radar tower with an outboard hoist.  There are spreader lights and a light on the radar tower. There is a deck shower at the stern of the boat.  A fresh or salt water deck washdown pump is available.
