RAmparts 2500W tug is built to order, with the ability to customise the tug to suit your particular requirements. The hull is under the 24m rule length for load line and tonnage conventions, with an aft- biased deckhouse and wheelhouse for working under the extreme flare of modern vessels. It has a large forward working deck, and relatively low draft. The first of two tugs ordered by the Port of Tauranga, New Zealand has completed its 30-day voyage to start work. The new tug Tai Pari arrived recently following a 30-day voyage from builder Cheoy Leeís yard in Hong Kong. She will be joined at the end of the month by her stable mate Tai Timu. The new tugs form part of a $20 million project for the Port of Tauranga and represent one aspect of the ongoing $350 million capital expenditure programme. The new tug is easy to find, and has been painted in the same rescue yellow as the pilot boat Arataki. Tai Pari will have a quiet weekend, but is expected to start training with the portís tug crews next week before beginning work later this month. The Tai Pari has had a month of running and the engines didnít miss a beat during the delivery voyage.

The design was developed by Cheoy Leeís design office as a fast 15m launch for the Hong Kong Fire Services department. Following that over 30 units have been built with slightly varying lengths as a harbour launch. This hull is now used for the new generation of Pilot Launches as the size and performance has proven a huge success. A well proven design with some recent laminate changes to achieve better laminate weight and increased performance.
